Zechariah 8:18 Prophecy

"Again the word of the LORD Almighty came to me.
This is what the LORD Almighty says: "The fasts of the fourth, fifth, seventh and tenth months will become joyful and glad occasions and happy festivals for Judah. Therefore love truth and peace."

We need to breath as the prophet breathed and we need to see as the prophet saw...

1.  FAST OF THE FOURTH MONTH:

With what we have learned last week
about the biblical months...  We know that the 4th Month is Tammuz.  Right!

Tammuz 17 is a fast day, devoted to mourning the breaching of Jerusalem's walls and the other tragic events that occurred on this day and repenting and rectifying their causes. The Jews refrain from all food and drink from "daybreak" until nightfall.

- Moses Breaks Tablets (1313 BCE)
Forty days after the Giving of the Torah on Sivan 6. Upon descending Mount Sinai and witnessing Israel's worship of the Golden Calf. Moses smashed the Tablets inscribed with the Ten Commandments which he was carrying down from the mountain.

- Temple Service Disrupted (423 BCE)
Three weeks before the Babylonians' destruction of the First Temple in 423 BCE.

- The Roman General Apostomus burned the Torah and, placed an idol in the Holy Temple.

- Jerusalem Walls Breached (69-70 CE)
Period of The Roman Empire conquest of Jerusalem and the destruction of the Second Temple.

2.  FAST OF THE FIFTH MONTH:

More...in our learning... the fifth month is... Av.

Tishah B'Av is the second fast, (lit. "Ninth of Av") a day of fasting and mourning commemorating the Destruction of the first and the second Holy Temples.

Few more catastrophes occurred on that fatal date:

- Spies gave a bad report (1313 BCE).
The Israelites are in the desert, recently having experienced the miraculous Exodus, and are now poised to enter the Promised Land. But first they dispatch a reconnaissance mission to assist in formulating a prudent battle strategy. The spies return on the eighth day of Av and report that the land is unconquerable. That night, the 9th of Av, the people cry. They insist that they'd rather go to Egypt!

- The First Temple was also destroyed on the 9th of Av (423 BCE).

- The Second Temple was destroyed, five centuries later (in 69-70 CE), as the Romans drew closer to the Second Temple, ready to torch it, the Jews were shocked to realize that their Second Temple was destroyed the same day as the first.

- Kochba Rebellion (133 CE)
When the Jews rebelled against Roman rule, they believed that their leader, Simon bar Kochba, would fulfill their messianic longings. But their hopes were cruelly dashed in 133 CE as the Jewish rebels were brutally butchered in the final battle at Betar.
One year after their conquest of Betar, the Romans plowed over the Temple Mount, the nation's holiest site.

- The Jews were expelled from England (1290 CE)

- The Jews were expelled from Spain (1492 CE)
The Golden Age of Spain came to a close when Queen Isabella and her husband Ferdinand ordered that the Jews be banished from the land. The edict of expulsion was signed on March 31, 1492, and the Jews were given exactly four months to put their affairs in order and leave the country.
The Hebrew date on which no Jew was allowed any longer to remain in the land where he had enjoyed welcome and prosperity was once more the Nine of Av.

- 1914: The First World War started between Germany, Russia and England.

-1942: Deportations from Warsaw Ghetto to the Treblinka concentration camp begin.

- 1994: The deadly bombing the building of the AMIA (the Jewish community centre in Buenos Aires, Argentina) which killed 86 people and wounded some 300 others.

-2005: Expulsion of 9.000 Jewish people from Gush Katif (Gaza area), 20 synagogues were burned to the ground.

3. FAST OF THE SEVENTH MONTH:

Seventh Month?... The month of Tishrei
Fast of Gedaliah:
Tishrei 3rd is a fast day mourning the assassination of the Jewish royal Gedaliah ben Achikam, governor of the Land of Israel for a short period following the destruction of the First Temple. Gedaliah's killing spelled the end of the small remnant of a Jewish community that remained in the Holy Land after the destruction, which fled to Egypt.

4. FAST OF THE TENTH MONTH:

Tenth month?...  The month of Tevet.
10th Tevet: Fast day commemorating the date on which the Babylonians laid siege around the walls of Jerusalem, leading to the eventual destruction of the Holy Temple.

>>>>>>>     POINTERS    <<<<<<<

All these fast days from Zechariah's prophecy speak about the destruction of the House of God and of the kingdom of Israel.

The month of Av, the Fifth month, is when the most destruction happened for the Jewish community through out the millennia...
But God was never too far from them.  The name Av in Hebrew means Father...  Despise all catastrophes Father God kept them alive and now slowly but surely redemption is coming...
FASTING AND PREPARING THE WAY

We can fast with them as an act of brotherhood (mourn with the ones who mourn) and as an act of commitment to the Lord, Yeshua who is coming back in Jerusalem to rule for the Millennium.
We are preparing actively His return by fasting and repenting as John the Baptist was calling His beloved to be ready for the coming of the Lord...
Yeshua will be proclaimed King of Israel! His Kingdom will be restored!
The disciples were asking a very pertinent question on the Mount of Olives few days after His resurrection.  Acts 1:6: "Lord, are you at that time going to restore self-rule to Israel?"
They knew that it will happen but they did not know when...

But we can already rejoice:
-  As the State of Israel has been reborn in 1948 and
-  Jerusalem was united in 1967 after the miracle of the Six Days War,
-  As the land of Israel welcomes more Jews each year, the Aliyah (the return of the Jews) is one of the signs of His soon return.

Next week we will look at the Holy Temple, will it be rebuilt?   Why? When? And for which purpose?

Fast dates in the 2009 calendar:
17 Tammuz 5769/ 9 July 2009
9 Av 5769/ 30 July 2009
3 Tishrei 5770 / 21 September 2009
10 Tevet 5770/ 6 January 2010

We are a generation who saw more signs and wonders than any other generation!  Israel being reborn after a long exile of 2000 years is the biggest miracle in the whole world!
Never before a nation been scattered and persecuted as been able to come alive again.

The fast days will be finally turned as days of joy and celebration as we pursue truth and peace.

Blessings to all!

HEBRON: FORGOTTEN CITY
The Update this week is about the massacre in Hebron during 1929.  I found a letter which is a first hand testimony of what happened.  For Purim, every year the book of Esther is read.  It is called Megillat Esther, the story of Esther.  This letter is called Megillat Hebron, the story of Hebron.  The Story remembered by a few every year...

The letter's author requests that his surviving children read the account every year to recall the survival and the massacre:

MEGILLAT HEBRON

With the help of God, Monday, Torah portion Shoftim V'shotrim, 5689 [September 2, 1929], Tel Aviv, may it be built up and firmly established, speedily in our days, Amen.

My dear children, may you live and be well.

Even before I begin writing, my hand is already shaking, my head swims, and every limb is trembling. I am unable to get control of myself, because the cries are still ringing in my ears. It is one week today since we came back from the bitter tragedy. Each day I want to write to you, but when I sit down to write, all my limbs start to quiver and tears pour from my eyes, so I have to stop. Today for the first time I was able to pull myself together, with all my strength, with superhuman effort. I got up at dawn and sat down to write. I hadn't started yet, but even before I could begin, my pen was already soaked with tears. Although it seems that I am writing this letter with ink, you should know that it is not ink, but tears.

Now, let me get to the point. I don't really know where to start and where to finish, because my blood is still churning inside me. But I will begin my Megillah of Hebron. Children, as you already know from my earlier letter, Mama, may she live and be well, had been feeling very weak, ever since we came back from our trip to America. Moving to a new apartment and all the hard work involved added to it. The apartment wasn't finished and there was endless aggravation because the work was not being done to her liking. On top of everything else, she couldn't bear the terribly hot weather. It was awful; the perspiring was beyond human endurance. She lay in bed all day because she was too weak to walk about. I kept begging Mama, may she live and be well, with tears in my eyes, that we needed a change of climate. It was impossible to convince her because she didn't want to abandon the house and leave it hefker. Finally she realized that she had no choice and she agreed. She did not want to go by herself, only with me. So we left home and went to the country‑‑to Hebron.

We arrived on Sunday, August 18th. There we went to a guest house, where we got a very nice room and came to an agreement on the charges. We paid for one month in advance, since we planned to stay for several months, until after all the holidays, when it would be cooler.

From the very beginning, things did not go well. Although the air was very good and the weather cool, and Mama, may she be well, did not perspire any more, she caught a severe cold and had to stay in bed. In addition, there were swarms of biting mosquitoes. We had no choice but to hope that things would get better. Unfortunately, things don't always turn out the way we would like, and no one knows what the future holds.

Ever since we arrived in Hebron, we had heard talk of disturbances in Jerusalem, that Arabs and Jews were fighting. We didn't have any specific details, but there were rumors in the air, so we were not in a happy state of mind. But what could we do about it?

On Friday, the 23rd, we heard that things had gotten worse in Jerusalem. Everyone became very uneasy and walked about without a head. We had forebodings that something terrible was about to happen‑‑but what, exactly, we did not know. I was fearful and kept questioning the local people, who had lived there for generations. They assured me that in Hebron there could never be a pogrom, because as many times as there had been trouble elsewhere in Eretz Israel, Hebron had remained quiet. The local population had always lived very peacefully with the Arabs.

But my heart told me that the situation was serious. Hebron alone, without the surrounding villages, has a population of 24,000. Including the villages, there are 60,000 people. Of what significance is the Jewish community there, a mere 100 families?  What could we do to protect ourselves? We could only comfort ourselves with the hope that God, blessed be He, would have mercy, and the troubles would run their course quietly.

Friday afternoon the situation worsened. We heard that on the street Arabs had already beaten several Jews with clubs. Next we heard that all the Jewish stores had closed. The atmosphere was explosive. Everybody was afraid to go out into the street, and we locked ourselves in our rooms. Things looked really bad. What should we do? "No one could go out, and no one could come in "[Joshua 6.1]; everybody was fearful. By now the local Jews too were saying that the situation was serious.

Suddenly, just one hour before candle lighting, pandemonium broke loose. Window panes were smashed on all sides. In our building, they broke every window and began throwing large stones inside. We hid ourselves. They were breaking windows in all the Jewish homes. Now we were in deathly fear. As we were blessing the Shabbes candles, we heard that in the Yeshiva one young man had been killed. It was bitter, the beginning of a slaughter.

In the meantime, mounted policemen arrived, and all became still outside. We thought that our salvation had come. All through the night the police patrolled the streets. But it seemed that they were having problems. You can understand that I walked the floor all the night terribly worried, with my heart in my mouth. On Shabbes morning, we saw that the situation was getting worse. Cars kept racing back and forth through the streets. They were filled with Arabs armed with long iron bars, long knives, and axes. The Arabs kept screaming that they were going to Jerusalem to slaughter all the Jews. Soon many Jews gathered in our house. We held a meeting and talked over the situation, but couldn't think of anything we could do to protect ourselves, since none of us had any weapons. Many of the people remained in our house, because by then it was too dangerous to try to go home.

Now let me tell you about the massacre. Right after eight o'clock in the morning we heard screams. Arabs had begun breaking into Jewish homes. The screams pierced the heart of the heavens. We didn't know what to do. Our house had two floors. We were downstairs and a doctor lived on the second floor. We figured that we would be safe in the doctor's apartment, but how could we get up there? The stairs were on the outside of the building, but it wasn't safe to go out. So we chopped through the ceiling and that way we climbed up to the doctor's house. Well, after being there only a little while, we realized that we were still in danger because by that time the Arabs had almost reached our house. They were going from door to door, slaughtering everyone who was inside. The screams and the moans were terrible. People were crying Help! Help! But what could we do? There were thirty‑three of us. Soon, soon, all of us would be lost.

Just then, God, blessed be He, in His great mercy, sent us an Arab who lived in back of our house. He insisted that we come down from the doctor's apartment and enter his house through the back door.  He took us to his cellar, a large room without windows to the outside. We all went in, while he, together with several Arab women, stood outside near the door. As we lay there on the floor, we heard the screams as Arabs were slaughtering Jews. It was unbearable. As for us, we felt that the danger was so great that we had no chance of coming out alive. Each one of us said his vidui [his confession in anticipation of death]. At any moment we could be slaughtered, for double‑edged swords were already at out throats. We had not even the slightest hope of remaining alive. We just begged that it should already be done and over.

Five times the Arabs stormed our house with axes, and all the while those wild murderers kept screaming at the Arabs who were standing guard to hand over the Jews. They, in turn, shouted back that they had not hidden any Jews and knew nothing. They begged the attackers not to destroy their homes.

We heard everything. In addition, the little children in our group kept crying. We were in deadly fear that the murderers outside would hear them.

As for me, I was already 99 percent in the next world. All the time that we were in the Arab's house, I lay there on the floor in terrible pain [from a heart attack].It just happened that there were two doctors in the house. They sat near me and they saved my life.

Well, I cannot continue describing the destruction any longer. It took several hours‑‑to us it seemed like years‑‑until all became quiet outside. We still lay there, waiting for the Angel of Death to finish with us as quickly as possible.

But God heard our prayers. Suddenly, the door opened, and the police walked in. They had been told that we were hidden there. They demanded that we go along with them, and they would take us to a safe place. We were afraid to go, because we thought they themselves might slaughter us. Eventually, they succeeded in convincing us that they had our good in mind. Since we couldn't walk there, they brought automobiles and took us, under police guard, to the police station, which was in a safe location.

When we reached the police station, there was acted out a real‑life dance of the devils, for the police had brought together those who were still alive, the surviving remnant. During the earlier confusion, naturally, no one could have known what was happening to anyone else, but there in the police station, everyone first discovered whom he had lost. As people told each other about their misfortunes and how many casualties they had suffered, there burst out a terrible cry, everyone shrieking and crying at the same time. It was unbearable. Blessed God, give us strength! It was beyond human endurance. Three women went out of their minds right there.

In short, we were in the police station three days and three nights. We couldn't eat and we couldn't sleep. We lay on the ground in filth, just listening to the crying and the groaning. Finally, God, blessed be He, had mercy on us and [on Monday night] the police again transferred us‑‑to Jerusalem. There we stayed in the Nathan Straus Health Center for two days and two nights, and on Wednesday we came back to Tel Aviv.

I am writing you only about our troubles. I don't have the strength to write about the additional troubles of the whole Jewish community. That you will surely read in the American newspapers. It is very tragic, but everything is from God.

Now I will tell you the total number of people who were slaughtered in Hebron. As of today, there are 63 holy martyrs. While we were still there, 58 were buried in a common grave, 51 males and 7 females; up to today, there are 5 more martyrs from among the wounded. Of the wounded, 49 are in serious condition, and 17 slightly wounded. Who knows how many more fatalities there will be? The Yeshiva suffered  23 killed and 17 wounded. Eight of the dead and 14 of the wounded from the Yeshiva are American boys. Gevald! Twenty‑three living Torah scrolls were burned! May the heavens open and avenge us.

All the houses of study with their Torah scrolls and holy books were burned; everything in them was destroyed. All the homes were plundered; not even a straw was left!

We ourselves were left practically naked and barefoot. Since we had planned to stay there a few months, we had taken along all our clothes. Mama, may she live and be well, was left with only the one dress she was wearing and I, too, had only what I was wearing. They even took my talis and tefilin. Before Shabbes, I gave the money that I had brought along to the innkeeper for safekeeping. The Arabs took that money too, quite a large amount.

To make matters worse, the situation in the entire country is very bad, and no one is paying his debts. I have notes for several thousand dollars. Last week, notes for $750 came due, but no one paid. Who knows what will happen in the future? God forbid that we shouldn't be ruined altogether. We're trying to keep our heads above water while we keep hearing that here things are bad and there things are bad. May God, blessed be He, have mercy and help all the Jews, including us, that we should at least be well and be able to bear up under these trials. We Jews have had enough troubles!

I have no patience to write about family matters because my hand is still trembling.

Just one thing, my dear children, may you live and be well, I ask of you that you put away this letter for the generations. Each year, at an agreed‑upon day, you should all meet and give thanks and praise to God, blessed be He, who saved your parents from this great catastrophe, and each one of you should make a generous contribution to charity. The miracle took place on Shabbes, Torah portion Ekev, the 18th day of the month of Av, 5689 [August 24, 1929], in Hebron.

Your father, who wishes you the best, writing to you through tears.

Prayer of repentance from UK Christian believers:
"Oh, YHWH, Creator of the Universe, God of Israel, God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob we plead today, forgive the sins of our forefathers who stand as an "impartial spectator".   The British Government did not provide protection and spoke empty promises to the Jewish community of Hebron.  They lied and tried to cover the story in their term, heroism was not shown but cowardice, we acted wickedly, stunting righteousness and justice from the citizens of the city of Hebron."

We pray Oh Lord for the welfare of Jewish people in Hebron, we pray that they will flourish in their land that you have given them by covenant.  We pray a blessing upon them.  We say be well and prosper, be strong and shine His light.

Dear Jewish People, please forgive us of our cowardice and misleading, forgive us for the blood of these 67 persons, forgive us for their future which was destroyed by our lack of justice.

We will pray for your welfare and tell the true story to our children, then we will strive to build a bridge of friendship and respect."

Eyewitness to History
``The Government is With Us''

The Hebron Pogrom of August 1929

submitted by Shlomo Hersh

The following are eyewitness accounts of the events leading up to and including the Hebron Pogrom of August 23 - 24, 1929. The accounts were recorded and published within a time frame that would eliminate any doubt as to the validity or detail of the testimony.

Source: Maurice Samuel, What Happened in Palestine
October, 1929; Boston, Stratford Co. Publishers

Dr. Elkana of Hebron:

For many days before the horror began, the poison of incitement was felt everywhere. The Arabs spoke openly, shamelessly, and fearlessly of the massacre of the Jews to be arranged in the near future. They did not hesitate to reveal their whole detailed plan ... Facts and evidence are in the hands of the survivors. The landlord of the Hotel, Nachman Segal, said to the lessee of the hotel on Thursday: ``Pay me the rent today, because tomorrow no one among you will be saved.''
An unidentified Jewish resident of Hebron:
At about half past two on Friday (August 23) we saw a young Arab arrive by motorcycle from Jerusalem. He alarmed the Arab inhabitants of Hebron, saying that the blood of thousands of Moslems in Jerusalem was being shed like water. He called to the Arabs to avenge this blood. The unrest among the Arabs of Hebron was very strong, particularly after the motor cars began to arrive from Jerusalem with news of disturbances.
Davar newspaper of August 20, 1929:
Incitement of feeling against the Jews goes on, particularly round Jerusalem and Hebron. Rumours are being spread by unknown persons that on Saturday last the Jews cursed the Moslem religion and that it is the duty of Moslems to take revenge.
Excerpted from a telegram from the Arab Executive to the British High Commissioner for Palestine (after the pogrom):
The world will see (as a result of an impartial inquiry) that Jews, whose aggressions have surpassed political aims to religious ones, whose provocations have lately become insupportable, as admitted by [British Mandatory] Government, etc., were responsible for the present troubles, together with the policy supporting them.
From the Memorial Book of the Jewish Community of Hebron:
On Friday morning, the day of the outbreak in Jerusalem, the Jews of Hebron were already alarmed. The day before, Aref el-Aref, Arab Governor of Be'ersheva, had been in the City and had preached in the Mosque (Ha' Machpelah). His words were repeated to the Jews; in the midst of open incitement to riot recurred those familiar and sinister words: ``The Government is with us!''

The visit of Aref el-Aref to Hebron on Thursday bore very early fruit. On Friday morning the Jews of Hebron received, from an Arab source, the news that the Arabs were arming. Rabbi Ya'acov Slonim, head of the Sephardic Jewish community, and Rabbi Frank, head of the Ashkenazic community, turned to the Arab Governor of Hebron, Abdullah Kardos. The Governor calmed us and said: ``There is no fear of anything happening. The British Government knows what it has to do. In the place where two soldiers are needed, it sends six.'' And he added: ``I tell you in confidence that they have many soldiers in the streets, in civilian clothes; these soldiers circulate among the crowds, and in the hour of need they will fulfil their duty.''

On Friday afternoon, an Arab mob broke into the Yeshiva, and killed the only student who had remained there - Samuel Rozenholtz, known among the Jews of Hebron as a matmid, a name given to those who distinguish themselves by their devotion to study. On Saturday morning, before the slaughter began, the Rabbis again appealed to the Governor for help. Again they received the same astounding assurances. Bewildered, they turned to Mr. Cafferata, the British officer in charge of the Police. From him, too, they received assurances of safety. I find such difficulty in believing this story, that I have looked at every record of eyewitnesses, without finding a contradiction.

For two hours on the morning of Saturday, August 24, there raged in Hebron a scene which is not easy to parallel even in the medieval annals of the Jewish people. For two hours neither the Governor of Hebron nor the British officer interfered. From English papers I cull a story of the heroism of Mr. Cafferata in attempting to stop the massacre.

British newspaper reports speak of Mr. Cafferata being decorated for ``heroism.'' However, Mr. Samuels could not find any accounts of such heroics or even any attempt to stop the attack. The author does state that a certain Commander Partridge of Gaza treated the wounded and dying. The Memorial book and survivors does mention the heroism of some of their Arab friends and landlords: ``The family Moshe Masha, the family Borowsky, the family of Rabbi Slonim, the family Schneersohn were thus rescued.'' They recall even the unsuccessful efforts of one Arab, Nassar El-Din, to protect Jews in his own home. However, with regard to Mr. Cafferata, both the Memorial Book and the testimony of the survivors record, with damning unanimity, that Mr. Cafferata did nothing for two hours. The Memorial book records:
From our knowledge, we say with certainty that it would have sufficed to issue a warning, or to fire some shots into the air, and the crowd would have scattered. It was only after there had been sufficient butchery, plunder and rape, and the pogromists were about to attack an English officer, that some shots were fired, and the mob dispersed at once.
One eyewitness stated:
The massacre lasted an hour and a half. There were then heard six shots and the murderers scattered. Those that would not scatter were fired on by the English commander. Then twenty-five Arabs fell.
The Memorial of the Jews of Hebron, as submitted to the High Commissioner of Palestine closes with these tragic words:
In the name of sixty-five slaughtered, fifty-eight wounded, and many orphans and widows; in the name of the remnants of the plundered and tortured we accuse:
  1. The [British Mandatory] Government, which did not fulfil its duty and provide protection for its peaceful and defenceless charges.
  2. The Governor, Abdullah Kardos, and the Commander, Cafferata, who deprived us of the means of appealing for help and defence, betrayed us with empty promises and gave the murderers and robbers their opportunity.
  3. The police, which did not fulfil its duty, and behaved with contemptible baseness.
  4. The emissaries of the Mufti and the Moslem Council, in particular the Sheikh Talib Narka and his colleagues, those mentioned above, as well as those who have not been mentioned, who proclaimed the massacre and permitted murder and rape.
  5. Also the inhabitants of Hebron (with the exception of some families) who did not rise up to help their brothers and neighbours in accordance with the commandments of the Koran... (Some Arabs risked their own lives by helping and hiding Jews in their home)

...the Holy Land was in turmoil. Life came to a standstill as the ordinary safeguards of government ceased to function. The mob, in itself not very numerous or impressive, dominated the scene. Sir John Chancellor, the High Commissioner, was on leave of absence, and his place at the top had been taken by Harry Luke, the Chief Secretary, as Acting High Commissioner.

This gentleman appeared to be in a blue funk (disappointed, nervous) in the first days of the rioting, when I called on him at Government House in Jerusalem. ``The situation has gotten out of hand,'' he repeated over and over again, ``and just at a moment when there are no troops within easy call.''

I asked him if there were no arms on hand either.

``Plenty,'' he said.

``Well, then there is nothing to be afraid of,'' I suggested. ``Give me a gun and give a few more British subjects a gun, and we can keep order. If need be, you could arm a few thousand Jews. They are being attacked by people who seem to have plenty of arms. It would be logical, in view of the fact that the government does not possess the means to protect them, that they be allowed to defend themselves.''

``But that would mean civil war,'' objected Mr. Luke.

``Well, you pretty well have a civil war on your hands as it is.''

``We, the government, would merely become a third party of disorder if I carried out your suggestion,'' he said.

``Disorder? By suppressing disorder you do not become disorderly,'' I remarked. ``The Mufti's clique is the party of disorder, The Jews, whatever your objection to them may be, are the party of order. I have looked at the Arab rioters in Jerusalem, Hebron, Safed, and elsewhere. They are the lowest dregs of the population, uncouth hooligans, gangsters and cutthroats. As against them the Jews represent civilization here.''

``Ah,'' he objected again, ``but you must keep in mind that the government is neutral, must be impartial in this quarrel between Jews and Arabs. We are the watchdog...''

``Neutral and impartial when it is a question of barbarism versus civilization, when it is a case of gangsters attacking peaceful innocent citizens as those whose bodies I just saw piled up in a house in Hebron? .... Can one be neutral in a case like that? Isn't being neutral in such a case, tantamount to taking sides, if one leaves the way open for more attacks, more murders of women and children?''

``By the way,'' Mr. Luke broke in, ``are you a Jew?''

``No,'' I answered, ``must one be a Jew to want fair play?''

``What then do you suggest?'' he asked.

``I can suggest nothing,'' I replied, ``I am only a newspaperman looking on ....''

``Quite so,'' he came back, ``But you could be immensely useful to the government of Palestine. You represent a great liberal journal in America (the late New York Evening World), and we are very sensitive to American public opinion. I want you to have full facilities to probe the matter, to find out what really happened here, and to tell in what a grave predicament the government of Palestine was placed, caught between two fires, as it were...''

``But I cannot say that,'' I returned. ``You have just said the government is neutral. I can never hope to explain to the American newspaper reader that in the presence of an unprovoked attack by gangs of hoodlums on a peaceful community, the government looked on as an impartial spectator. Americans won't understand that. They expect something else from a government.''

``What, for instance?''

``Well, a whiff of grapeshot, for instance - a few volleys fired into the air by the police ... you can't be neutral in a case like that.''

``Well, no, but impartial we are...''

``You call that impartiality when a man like Captain Caffaretta of Hebron comes in and calmly relates how he watched the mob invade a rabbi's home and slaughter twenty-seven persons there.''

``There were only twenty-six killed,'' interrupted Mr. Luke.

``Yes, twenty-six adults and one baby of three months, that makes twenty-seven by my count .... Watch human beings being killed, he an officer in the British army, with a police guard at his beck and call and a service revolver in his pocket. One or two shots in the air by Caffaretta, and the mob would never have entered Rabbi Slonim's house.''

THE JOY OF SHABBAT!  SHABBAT SHALOM!

"God blessed the seventh day and separated it as holy:
because on that day God rested from all his work
which he had created,
so that itself could produce."  Gen 2:3

"If you hold back your foot on Shabbat
from pursuing your own interest on my holy day,
if you call Shabbat a delight
The Lord's holy day, worth honouring,
then honour it by not doing your usual things
or pursuing your interests or speaking about them.
If you do, you will find delight in the Lord"  Isaiah 58: 13-14

"Then he said to them, "Shabbat was made for mankind,
not mankind for Shabbat,
so the Son of man is Lord even of Shabbat"  Mark 2: 27

"Looking for a reason to accuse him of something, people watched him carefully to see if he would heal him on Shabbat..." Mark 3: 2

This woman is a daughter of Abraham, and the Adversary kept her tied
up for eighteen years!
Shouldn't she be freed from this bondage on Shabbat? Luke 13:16

It's interesting to see that Yeshua loved to heal on Shabbat!!!
Studying the Word of God I discovered that He seemed to make a point to heal on that day!  Shabbat is made for us to enjoy, to rest and enjoy our relationship with our Creator!  Another interesting point is that Yeshua called the lady in Luke 13, "daughter of Abraham", Abraham is the Father of our faith.
Yeshua wants his people free of the ties of the Adversary!  Healing her on the Shabbat is a prophetic sign, declaring: "Satan, when my time to reign on earth will come, in the Millennial age, your kingdom will be totally destroyed and my children will be free. Look I am healing her as a sign!"  It is every time a blow to the adversary!
Healing is available and even more on Shabbat!

SHABBAT IS A FEAST

Who was the first to rest for Shabbat?  Our Creator!
There is so much in this verse in Genesis 2:3, Genesis is like the DNA giving an explanation of the principles of the whole universe.
God completed his work and not only that he blessed that day, but put it aside. It is a Holy day (from kadesh, set apart) when man recognises His Creator.  His Creator will sustain him for the day and he has a purpose for that day to be different from the other days.  For six days, man subdues, rules, works the earth but the seventh day, the earth works without the help of man.  On that day, Man turns not towards the earth to work but towards His creator to worship Him.  And our Creator makes sure that we are satisfied (look at the story of the manna, twice the normal amount was provided for the Friday, the sixth day).  We enjoy this day with our Creator because we are made in His image, no animal however cute, clever or domesticated has an intimate relationship with His creator as we humans have.

I love what Yeshua says, that the Shabbat is made for us, as human beings!  What a privilege to love and honour our Creator, forget about work and  the pressures of the week.  We are not just mortal creatures, we have an eternal spirit which needs to be fed.  We can see our week through the eye of the holiness of Shabbat.  We can have a peep at what Eternity will be through the key hole of Shabbat.

We started to celebrate the Shabbat a few years ago now and it brings joy into our home that nobody can take away!
It has helped us to bring back God's presence into the midst of the family.
We see too many times, God's presence in our congregations but when we come back home, we don't carry His sweet presence and family life is a battle zone!!!  Bible's principles are not in the midst of our families!!!  This is a good tool to bring Him right back in!
We light the Shabbat candles to bring His light amongst us on Friday night.
We have bread and wine as a family, it is part of every Shabbat.  God sustains us, we make the Challah, the platted bread and we learn more about the Word of God.  We don't live with bread alone but with every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
We bless our children, this is part of the Shabbat blessing, they are our inheritance!
May our boys be like Manasseh and Ephraim!  May our girls be like Rebekah, Leah and Rachael.
The children bring their head close to our hands to be blessed.  What a pleasure it is to be around the table and share a delicious meal together.

And we invite the Queen of Shabbat to come and take her place, this is a picture of the Bride for the Bridegroom.  Again, this is a prophetic sign.

Is it Jewish to celebrate the Shabbat?  Yes and no!

Yes, it is a commandment that God has given to Moses! A big thank you to the Jewish people to have been faithful to keep the Shabbat, even after being dispersed for so many centuries and have been persecuted because they were different.

No, God blessed the seventh day and put it aside for all mankind from the beginning of time.  So we can enjoy Shabbat and it is a prophetic sign that we will enjoy His presence, dine with Him and He will dwell among us for ever.
So, SHABBAT SHALOM!

HEBREW CORNER:

Shabbat  =   ש ב ת

We know we can read God's principles even in the writing of the letters.  So let's take a look!   Every letter represents a concept that God is expressing in the word Shabbat.
ש   =   The letter Shin represents the Flame of Yah, the light.  Yeshua is the light of the world.  Yeshua is the Lord of the Shabbat and He brings His light in our life.  Shabbat is a prophetic act, done every week since the beginning of the world.  Shabbat is a proclamation from the beginning that the light of the world will come and be established forever.
"The city has no need for the sun or the moon to shine on it, because God's Skekinah gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb.  The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendour into it." Rev 21:23-24.
ב   =   The letter Bet represents our House, the light is coming into our home.  Our home is a habitation for the flame of God.  We are the temple of the Lord and His spirit comes to dwell in us!  What an amazing God we have!
"And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God." Rev 21:3

ת   =   The letter Tav represents the seal of God, it is the letter of Truth and Perfection, the culmination of God's work.  The purpose of Shabbat is to demonstrate that Truth will prevail at the end.  We can rejoice in this promise.  God is in charge of time, we can dine and live that day in rejoicing that the Truth of our God will prevail.
"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Rev 21:4

Shabbat is the seventh day, a thousand years in the sight of the Lord is like a day.  The 6th millennium, the millennium of man is closing and the seventh Millennium, The Millennium of Messiah is coming.  Darkness is the darkest just before the dawn!  We need to be steadfast, persevere and run in His presence to find strength in Him.  He is coming soon!

WE ALL STARTED LIKE RUTH IN THE CORNER OF A FIELD...

The amazing adventure of Ruth, the Moabite started when she decided to stick with Naomi.  She had seen in the life of her mother-in-law something that she longed for.  She loved the way Naomi prayed to the Creator of the universe, lightening the Shabbat candles every shabbat, to spread the light of her Lord.  Naomi was very different compared to her relatives, for Naomi family was precious, each detail in everyday matters was important to her, order in her home made life pleasant and sweet, and ohhh there were the songs that Naomi was singing.  They caused her heart to dance, peace to descend into her soul, and when sorrow was around, they brought hope upon her that one day there would be no more tears.
She forgot about her country and her old culture, packed a few belongings and clung to her mother-in-law.  She was going to an unknown country, but she had already heard wonderful stories about it because Naomi had recalled to her the many joyous times when she was younger, and her wedding day with all the laughter of the children, and the many relatives. She had heard that the country had been given to them by the Most High!  She was going to discover an amazing place, a little town called "The House of Bread".
There was such a stir in Bethlehem when Naomi returned, this little lady was loved and admired!   Ruth felt quite intimidated, she was a foreigner in the midst of this tremendous reunion.  Next morning, she went out to find some work.  There was plenty to do during harvest time and she started gleaning ears of barley grain for her mother-in-law.  There was a good law in that country; that if you were poor the corners of the fields were yours. So she started in the corners of the field to glean what was left over from the harvest.  She was content to be able to work, but the sun was hot... and drops of sweat began to glisten on her brow. Ruth didn't mind, she was figuring out how much food she would be able to store for the next few months. Naomi was getting old and Ruth was going to be looking after her.  Naomi's company reminded her of her own husband, they had married for ten years, but never had the chance to have even one child. Sadness passed over her, if only she had a baby with Kilyon her life, and Naomi's would be so different. Ruth was sorrowful that she would never have the joy of seeing her own baby grow, she had nothing to remember of her former life... She was just a young Moabite widow.
.....
Ruth presented her baby boy to Naomi, who started to nurse him, even in her old age!  Life came back to her, laughter was heard around her again, her neighbours came and named the baby boy "Obed".  Ruth worked vigourously to make life easier for Naomi and she found favour in the sight of The Almighty!
Ruth smiled at Obed, her very first son!  Joy welled up from her heart: "Israel, Israel, you are as beautiful and as full of laughter as Naomi told me years ago..."
.....
It was just the beginning of a new life.
.....
Ruth would become the great grand-mother of David, King of Israel.  She would be in the genealogy of the Messiah, Yeshua!
....
She had started as a foreigner clinging to a Jew.

"When that time comes, ten men will take hold - speaking all the languages of the nations - will grab hold of the cloak of a Jew and say," We want to go with you, because we have heard that God is with you."" Zechariah 8 v 23.

Letter to the Jewish Nation from the French Commander-in-Chief Napoleon Bonaparte
(translated from the Original written in 1799)

General Headquarters, Jerusalem 1st Floreal, April 20th, 1799,
in the year of 7 of the French Republic

BONAPARTE, COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF OF THE ARMIES OF THE FRENCH REPUBLIC
IN AFRICA AND ASIA, TO THE RIGHTFUL HEIRS OF PALESTINE.

Israelites, unique nation, whom, in thousands of years, lust of conquest and tyranny have been able to be deprived of their ancestral lands, but not of name and national existence!

Attentive and impartial observers of the destinies of nations, even though not endowed with the gifts of seers like Isaiah and Joel, have long since also felt what these, with beautiful and uplifting faith, have foretold when they saw the approaching destruction of their kingdom and fatherland: And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads; they shall obtain joy and gladness and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. (Isaiah 35:10)

Arise then, with gladness, ye exiled! A war unexampled In the annals of history, waged in self-defence by a nation whose hereditary lands were regarded by its enemies as plunder to be divided, arbitrarily and at their convenience, by a stroke of the pen of Cabinets, avenges its own shame and the shame of the remotest nations, long forgotten under the yoke of slavery, and also, the almost two-thousand-year-old ignominy put upon you; and, while time and circumstances would seem to be least favourable to a restatement of your claims or even to their expression ,and indeed to be compelling their complete abandonment, it offers to you at this very time, and contrary to all expectations, Israel's patrimony!

The young army with which Providence has sent me hither, let by justice and accompanied by victory, has made Jerusalem my headquarters and will, within a few days, transfer them to Damascus, a proximity which is no longer terrifying to David's city.

Rightful heirs of Palestine!

The great nation which does not trade in men and countries as did those which sold your ancestors unto all people (Joel,4,6) herewith calls on you not indeed to conquer your patrimony; nay, only to take over that which has been conquered and, with that nation's warranty and support, to remain master of it to maintain it against all comers.

Arise! Show that the former overwhelming might of your oppressors has but repressed the courage of the descendants of those heroes who alliance of brothers would have done honour even to Sparta and Rome (Maccabees 12:15) but that the two thousand years of treatment as slaves have not succeeded in stifling it.

Hasten!, Now is the moment, which may not return for thousands of years, to claim the restoration of civic rights among the population of the universe which had been shamefully withheld from you for thousands of years, your political existence as a nation among the nations, and the unlimited natural right to worship Jehovah in accordance with your faith, publicly and most probably forever (Joel 4:20).

Isn't This Letter Amazing???

I had never heard about this letter before!  I was doing some research last week-end because of an inspiring e-mail that I received (Thank you Kelly!),  I just looked up "Napoleon and the Jews" on the Internet and started to search...

I have learned about Napoleon at school,  born in Corsica, moved to Paris to attend a military School... and the defeat of the army in Russia.  The English people will always make me remember Waterloo!  I remember vaguely about "la Campagne d'Egypte" and of course the exile at St. Helen's Island...

But since I am born again, I have always been fascinated by Napoleon's life and have said many times, "When I go to heaven one of the first people I want to meet is Napoleon.  I want to know his side of the story."
We need to know the spiritual life of the person not only their accomplishments.  Events happen and sometimes just a simple encounter or a divine encounter and the direction of a life is changed...
I felt too often cheated at school when facts where given to me to learn and dates to memorize!!!  I still do not know the real side of the story. Why this event?  What was the purpose?  What was the divine thread behind the scenes?  Because history is really His Story.

Why did Napoleon want to go to Egypt? and to Israel?... Why was he so good in military strategy and daring tactics...  I think Napoleon was reading His Bible more than we have presumed...

I will have many questions to ask him...

If you want to know more about Napoleon and the Jews visit the website: http://www.napoleon-series.org/ins/weider/c_jews.html

If in 1799, Napoleon had won the battle of Akko, (la bataille d'Acre) this letter will have been send to the Jewish people and a French Protectorate will have been established in Israel!   But it did not happen and the Jewish people had to wait another 150 years.  This very letter from Napoleon influenced the Balfour Declaration... Amazing...

Some people saw Napoleon as an Anti-Christ!  Doing some  more research I think one of the reasons was anti-Semitism. He released the Jews from ghettos in Italy, gave them freedom in France and  the Sanhedrin was established for a short period in Paris.
"The Grand Sanhedrin, was the Supreme Assembly of the Jewish nation, and had not been reunited for 18 centuries. Napoleon had the idea of assembling the principal Jewish notables of all of Europe, in order to permit them to solve the problems that concerned him. Convened by decree on the 23rd of August 1806, the Grand Sanhedrin met from the 9th of February to the 9th of March 1807. At the time of their last reunion, Napoleon was proclaimed the modern "Cyrus." Napoleon was warmly and unanimously praised."
Napoleon was viewed as a King Cyrus by the Jews and his name was put in their Jewish Prayer Book.

All of that brings us to the conclusion that Napoleon was a deliverer, the Hebrew name for Deliverer is Messiah!  King Cyrus was also called by the Lord a Messiah in Isaiah 45:1.

"This is what the LORD says to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I take hold of to subdue nations before him and to strip kings of their armour, to open doors before him so that gates will not be shut."  Isaiah 45:1
After the Revolution, the French nation needed a strong leader to direct the nation, it was a new era and Napoleon did it.   Not at all perfect, but who would have done a better job?...
Napoleon did more than any other leader prior to his time, to give security and religious freedom to the Jews in nations under his control.

At the End of days, or in the last days, "hacharit Hayamin", the God of Israel is raising an army of Deliverers (Obadiah 13:21) to reign from Mount Zion,  and The God of Israel will establish His Kingdom.  We are lovers of Zion.

See below an note that I found in my dairy:

May 2004

I woke up this morning with a strong sense that God wants to raise up men and women who would stand steadfast and strong with the Lord, they have a burning desire for the Glory of God and His Kingdom to be established on earth as it is in heaven.  They are the Moses and Elijah of this generation, carriers of God's WORD, with great humility and great power (Moses & Elijah had dominion over nature), carriers of the Grace / Kindness of God (Chesed is the word in Hebrew) and at the same time they are carriers of the Judgment of God (Egypt was judged and destroyed, Ahab was judged and the baals were destroyed with Elijah).  God is righteous.  GRACE (Chesed) and TRUTH (Emet) are the foundations of His kingdom (Psalm 85).

These people will have an increasing influence in the governmental realm and will be a voice to lead their people.

This is His call now to His noble men and women of great courage.  He is calling them forth for this hour.

God is calling us to be His Deliverers... and His Kingdom will be established on Earth as it is in Heaven.

So be it in our lives...

THE HEROES, THE GREAT CLOUD OF WITNESSES ARE CHEERING US ON TO LIVE A LIFE WORTHY OF OUR LORD!

JAMES : known as Jacob

James, the son of Zebedee and Salome was the elder brother of the Apostle John.  He was the first of the twelve apostles to be martyred (Acts 12.:2).  He was executed about A.D. 44 by order of King Agrippa I of Judea.  His martyrdom may have been a fulfilment of what Jesus foretold about him and his brother John (Mark 10:39).  The eminent writer Clemens Alexandrinus wrote that when James was being led to his execution, his extraordinary courage impressed one of his captors to such a degree that he fell on his knees before the apostle, asked for his forgiveness, and confessed that he too was a Believer.  He said that James should not die alone, whereupon they were both beheaded.

JOHN : known as Yochanan

The Apostle John, brother of James, is credited with founding the seven churches of Revelation: Smyrna, Pergamos, Sardis, Philadelphia, Laodicea, Thyatira and Ephesus.  It was in Ephesus, it is said, where he was arrested, sent to Rome and cast alive into a large vessel filled with boiling oil.  However, he was so consumed by the Words of Jesus: "You will see me before you die"  that he sprang out of the caldron, which was a miracle and did not die!  Burned but still alive, he was released and banished by the Emperor Domitian to the Isle of Patmos, where he wrote the Book of Revelation.  After being released from Patmos he returned to Ephesus where he died about A.D. 98.  He was the only apostle to escape a violent death.

When you read the book of Revelation, you can now visualise the Apostle John, an old man burned, scarred all over his body who has seen the Lord Jesus on the Isle of Patmos.  The price was high ... but this was the gift for you and me to be able to read the words of Revelation.

"Blessed are the reader and hearers of the word of this prophecy,
provided they obey the things written in it!  For the time is near!"

SIGNS OF THE END

Jesus' disciples asked Jesus as he was sat upon the Mount of Olives:
"What will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?" Matthew 24:3.

We have already seen that the end of the age is the time of Harvest (ketz olam) ie. The fullness of time, the time is ripe, time is almost over, the fruits of righteousness and of wickedness are ripe. The time of Man is ripe as almost 6000 years have past since the creation of Man. The harvest is upon us which will bring the final Redemption and will herald the Millennium, 7000.  Messiah Yeshua, King of kings reigning on earth for a thousand years.

Signs of the end:
  • Deception of many.  False Messiahs. Matthew 24:4.
  • Wars and rumours of wars.  Iraq, Afghanistan, Sudan, Chechnya, Bosnia, Gaza, Lebanon, etc. Matthew 24:6.
  • Famine and pestilences Sudan, Bird flu, etc. Matthew 24:7.
  • Earthquakes in many places.  Theses are the beginning of sorrows e.g.. Tsunami, Japan, Israel, Italy, Turkey, UK, Pakistan etc. Matthew 24:7.
  • Persecution and hatred for Believers. China, North Korea, Sudan, Indonesia, India, Pakistan, anti-Semitism, etc. Matthew 24:9.

  • Preaching of the Gospel of the kingdom in all the world.  Gospel preached, tools of Radio, Satellite, Internet, TV, etc. Matthew 24:14.
  • See the abomination of desolation spoken by Daniel the Prophet, stand in the Holy Place.  The Holy Temple needs to be rebuilt... to see that sign fulfilled. (see article in the news about this event ...They also wished to lay a foundation stone for the next Temple ...) Matthew 24:15.
  • As the light come out of the east and shine unto the west, shall also be the coming of the son of man be.  Matthew 24:27.
  • Powers of the heaven shaken, sun darkened, moon give no light, stars fall from heaven.  Sun and moon eclipses at specific times, sunspots.  Matthew 24:29.
  • All the tribes of the earth will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds.  Matthew 24:30.
  • Angels will gather his elect with the great sound of the shofar! NOT a trumpet!  It is the shofar, the ram's horn!  Matthew 24:31.
  • The Fig tree.  Israel, will be a nation again. The Regathering of the Jewish People to the land, Jewish People discover Yeshua as their Messiah - summer is near. Matthew 24:32.
  • When you see ALL these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. Matthew 24:33.
  • This generation will not pass away (die). Matthew 24:34.
  • As it was in The Days of Noah: Violence and Corruption in the Earth.  Hamas is the word Violence in Hebrew.  Indifference to the Word of God. Matthew 24:37.
  • Ten virgins: five foolish, five wise. What was the difference between them?  It was this : The Wise had Oil for their lamps.  What is the Oil? The Prophetic Word from The HOLY SPIRIT is the Oil!  Seven times in the book of Revelation it says: "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches". Matthew 25: 1-13.
  • Famine of Hearing the Prophetic (Rhema) Word of God. Amos 8:11.
  • Knowledge will increase Daniel 12:4 "Knowledge shall increase".
  • Understanding The End Times from the Book of Genesis. "I will make the end known from the Beginning"  Isaiah 46:10 i.e. The book of Genesis shedding light on the book of Revelation. "Words of the scroll" Daniel 12:4.
  • Increase in Speed and Frequency of Travel Daniel 12:4 "Many will go here and there".
  • Terrible Times  2 Timothy 3:1-5 "People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God - having a form of godliness but denying its power".
  • Elijah Generation Anointing "See I will send my messenger" who will prepare the way before me". Malachi 3:1.
"When you shall see all these signs, (at the same time) know that it is near, even at the gates."  Matthew 24:33

WATCH AND PRAY!
LIFT UP YOUR HEADS YOU GATES, LIFT THEM UP EVERLASTING DOORS
SO THAT THE GLORIOUS KING CAN ENTER!
WHO IS HE, THIS GLORIOUS KING?
THE LORD, STRONG AND MIGHTY
THE LORD OF THE ARMIES
HE IS THE GLORIOUS KING!

Zamru Elohim Zamru

God ascended with the blast,

The Lord, with the sound of the shofar

Make music for God, make music,

make music for our King, make music

Psalm 47 vs. 6-7

Make music for God, make music: Zamru Elohim Zamru

A Rabbi explained that this is not an exhortation to play music, but a command to compose new, fresh melodies.  He explains that the name root ZMR is not the chanted word, but the melody, the tune arising from the soul.
Reading that comment reminds me of an event.  A few days ago I was worshiping in an assembly and the leader of the worship started musing, no word was sung and it touched me deeply, it brought a wave a freedom into my soul.  The Lord was showing me the freedom that we have when we know Him intimately, that this is a precious gift of walking with Him.

The Lord desires us to be free much more than we desire ourselves to be free!

If we keep a slave mentality even though we are free we are living as slaves!  We are thinking as slaves and behaving as slaves even though we are free!
We are free!  No sin, no world power, no system can enslave us, except if we let them enslave us!  The Lord, Yeshua paid for our freedom on the Cross, He has broken the chains of enslavement, we have to learn to walk in our freedom.

ZeMoRah and ZeMeR

"Dwell in Me, and I will dwell in you. Just as no branch (Zemorah) can bear fruit of itself without abiding in (being vitally united to) the vine,
neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in Me.  I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in Me and I in him bears much (abundant) fruit."

The name Zemorah for branch is related with making music, ZeMeR.  Inside the branch, the sap gathers long before the fruit emerges.  When a sufficient amount of the nutritious liquid accumulates, the tree is ready to burst forth with fruit.
So too, with song.  All feelings and emotions are gathered into the strains of wordless melody.  When these feelings reach a crescendo, they overflow into original words of praise.  The well chosen, inspired word of Shira (song) is thus the fruit of ZeMoRah.

He belongs to us and we belong to Him and in worship our soul get full of the sap of the Spirit and can burst into melody and songs... This delights His heart and rectifies our ways, so much revelation flows from our intimacy with Him.

God ascended with the blast, The LORD, with the sound of the shofar.

Alah Elohim B'Teruah, YeHoVah, BeKol Shofar : This is the translation in Hebrew of "God ascended with a blast, The LORD, with the sound of the shofar." Ps 47 v6

Alah has the same root than aliyah, which means going up, as in the return of the exiles going (up) to Israel.  They are ascending, God is ascending!
B'Teruah, is the blast.  It is also the name of one of the sounds that the shofar makes.  This is the sound for Rosh Hashanah, the New Year in the Jewish calendar!  It is the birthday of Adam and a call to repentance before Yom Kippur, the day of Judgement.  Time to turn back to the LORD, time to assess our days.
BeKol Shofar, is the sound of the shofar.
This is exactly what happened when Yeshua went up to heaven Acts 1 v11 and the angels were saying that He will come back in the same way that he went!

Now look  in 1 Thess. 4: "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of he archangel, and with the trump of God."
In Hebrew you found again B'Teruah, (the blast) and BeKol Shofar (the Sound of the shofar), it is extraordinary!
Then the next verse speak about the rapture!  As Yeshua ascended with the blast of the shofar, he will descend and we will ascend, we will go up (Alah) with Him!

This is the Psalm read specifically for Rosh HaShanah, and the Shofar is blown one hundred times!

When you read the new Testament in Hebrew you can see things from an Old Testament point of view.  We can't see this in our own language and God is inspiring many believers to learn Hebrew.  This is another part of worship, studying the Word.  It is another way to be intimate with Him and Know Him.  After being born again, we start to know Him and we have already begun eternal life.  Death is nothing anymore, it is a door which will open to see Him face to face for ever.  Now we see through the mirror of life, we see Him only imperfectly as through a glass.

Eternal life is to know Him and we start straight away after being born again, born from above!

Worship is our soul breathing.
Studying is our heart beating for our beloved, "I looked for the one my heart loves" Song of Songs 3 v1.
The Hebrew language is the holy tongue to know Him intimately.

The Shofar : A Weapon in our hand 's

The Shofar has been put in our hand's as a weapon of prayer.  We are coming into a higher ground of spiritual warfare and it is becoming urgent that we blow the Shofar.

I am praying for a company of shofar-blowers to blow together to bring God's Presence.  Gideon had three hundred Shofarot (the plural for Shofar) blown at the same time!  Read the amazing story in Judges 7 (where it is written trumpets in our Bible, it is Shofar or Shofarot (plural) in Hebrew).

Who is getting ready to make films about the amazing stories in the Word of God? It will be so thrilling to see on the screen these events?

Click on the link's below to see the Shofarot blown at the Call 07.07.07.  What an awesome sound!  It is piercing the Heavenlies.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEC4A20979Q&amp

Just think for a minute that long ago the Shofar was only blown in Israel!  Then for many centuries very few Shofarot were blown.  BUT now it is time for Redemption all around the world!  On 7/7/7, Shofarot were blown all around the world about the same time starting in Jerusalem!!!  Can you imagine the sound from a heavenly perspective?  I would have loved to have been in heaven to hear the sound and see the reaction of the people there!!!  I can imagine them saying: "They are waking up on earth, Yeshua, they are calling You!!!  Can you hear the sound?... They are calling for their King!"

satan knows the sound (he was the One blowing the Shofar in God's Presence in the Heavens before his rebellion)

Hearing that sound he know that his time is short...

The Shofar is mentioned 80 times in the Holy Scriptures!

It is a prayer for God to remember us.

It is a sign of repentance:"Awake, you sleepers, from your sleep! Arise, you slumbers, from your slumber! Examine your deeds, Repent with contrition! remember your Creator!"

It is a sign of Renewal:

Every Jew is commanded to hear the voice of the Shofar to focus on the divine.  Same for the believer!

Our body belongs to the earth; but our spirit belongs to heaven.

Sound can pass into eternity, we can't go into the spiritual world with our body but the sound that we make can, and affect the spiritual realm's around us!

SOUNDS OF THE SHOFAR

TEKI’AH: long clear blast

SHEVARIM: tremolo of nine staccato blasts (call to battle, the enemy is near)

TERU’AH: Three short staccato blasts (like the three-tribe formation) to rise up

Teruah and Shevarim resemble the sobbing, wailing, repentance petitioner,

Tekiah represents the blast that enthrone the King.  The enthroning of God as King must be always outweigh the sobbing repentance, for it is only through the grace and mercy of the Eternal that the penitent is forgiven and given life.  Jewish tradition insists that the tekiah must be greater length than the teruah.

The TEKIAH GEDOLAH is held has long as the trumpeter can hold the note!

TRADITIONAL BLOWING OF THE SHOFAR

TEKI’AH, SHEVARIM-TERU’AH, TEKI’AH

TEKI’AH, SHEVARIM, TEKI’AH

TEKI’AH, TERU’AH, TEKI’AH

TEKI’AH GEDOLAH

Reasons for sounding the Shofar

At the time of Moed (the appointed time, also called Feast, divine appointment) in Greek the name is Kairos

To leave camp, in the wilderness, the cloud will move and the shofarot will blow!

In orderly form.  Our God is a God of order!

To wage war in the Land ( TO AROUSE THE CONGREGATION WHENEVER THE LAND IS STRUCK BY DISTRESS, WAR, EPIDEMIC OR DROUGHT).  The blasts are a call to repentance and a reminder that distress is a product of sin.  For people to interpret as merely coincidental is cruel, because this will prevent the nation from changing its ways and cause them to continue the corrupt practices that causes misfortunes to befall them in the first place.  (HOW RELEVANT WITH ALL THE "PROBLEMS" OF FLOODS, DISEASES...IN OUR W0RLD...)

To rejoice on the day of gladness, blown by the priests on the Shabbat and the feasts.  We are looking forward when the Days of fasting will be turned into Days of rejoicing.

"This is what the LORD Almighty says: "The fasts of the fourth, fifth, seventh and tenth months will become joyful and glad occasions and happy festivals for Judah. Therefore love truth and peace."  Zechariah 8 v19.

On the day of Coronation for the King.

To herald the beginning of the ten days of repentance.

A reminder to be faithful to the teaching of the Torah, a blast at the giving of the Torah

A reminder of the prophets, who raised their voices like the Shofar and pricked the conscience of the nations. Ezekiel 33 v 2-7

To the sound of the Shofar, the Temple fell and to the sound of the Shofar it will be restored.

A reminder of the Akedah, the binding of Isaac, who was obedient unto death and death on the wood!  Behold the Lamb!  The ram was substituted for Isaac.  It was the gospel preached to Abraham in demonstration! Galatians 3:8

To inspire awe: "When the shofar is blown in the city, don't the people tremble?" Amos 3:6

A Summons to the Heavenly Court on the day of Judgment "A day of the Shofar and battle-cry" Zephaniah 1:16

A Reminder that the Shofar will call together Israel's scattered remnants to the Holy Land. Isaiah 27:13

The Day of Resurrection: I Thessalonians 4:16-17

"For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the Shofar call of God, and the dead in Messiah will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord for ever."

THE SHOFAR's Sound Breaks through the Noise of the World!

THE MENORAH

During the Israel Purim Tour in March 2008 we walked a few times past the place where the Menorah now stands gloriously and graciously not far from the Temple Mount.  Many people stop there, contemplating the beauty of the Menorah.  Some take some family pictures, some stop and pray silently.  God can hear every heart...

Matthew 5:14: "You are the light of the World..." To whom was Jesus speaking? ... It was to His disciples: they were all Jews living in the land of Israel under the Roman Empire.

God's order: 7 Lamps, 7 Colours, 7 Notes and 7 Days.

7 DAYS:  Yom Richon, Yon Sheni, Yom Schlishi, Yom Revii, Yom Chamishi, Yom Shishi and Shabbat.

Interestingly enough till today in Hebrew the days of the week are still describing day one, day two, day three, etc... just as the book of Genesis describes the Creation days.

And in our languages, the days describe deities or planets: Monday (moon day, in French "Lundi" which is also means moon day), Saturday, etc.

The Biblical way of thinking is with the Creation days which do not leave very much room for the Evolution theory or pagan religion.

ONE DAY =  ONE THOUSAND YEARS

2 Peter 3:8:  "But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day."

Psalm  90:4:  "For a thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by."

God's calendar is clear and simple but it has been hidden by the Gregorian calendar.

Emperor Constantine called himself a Christian after a battle in 312 when he saw a cross and heard a voice say “by this sign you shall conquer”, and Christianity began its growth as a World religion.  Emperor Constantine did not want anything to do with the Jews and erased the Jewishness of the Church.

So we lost all the Feasts of the Lord and the Jewish calendar was not used.  We lost our way there... and paganism was added to our belief.

The Roman calendar was in use from Julius Caesar (this calendar originated in the Egyptian calendar, a sun calendar as the Jewish calendar is a lunar calendar using also the sun as reference).

The Jewish calendar was recognized in the 9th century AD.  It is based on Biblical calculation from the Creation in 3761 BC.

The counting of the days start from evening to evening.  It is based on the moon cycle.  The Month has 29 or 30 days.

Examples are the life span of our descendants:

Adam = 930 years old, Methuselah = 969, FLOOD, Noah = 950 years old, Shem = 600

Arpachshad = 438,  Shelah = 433,  Eber = 464,

Terah = 205, Abraham = 175, Issac = 180

Jacob = 147, Joseph = 110

After the flood, the atmosphere clichanged and human beings could not live as long as before.

Between Adam and Noah's birth: 1000 years.

The flood happened in 1656 After Creation.

The dispersion (Tower of Babel) in 1996 After Creation.

Jacob died in 2255.  Shem was still living in 2158 so Abraham died before him in 2123!

Shem witnessed the flood, he was the son of Noah.  So Abraham could have a direct account of the Flood and of the state of the earth before the flood.

These numbers are found in the Chronology /Time Line - Adam to Jacob of the Stone Edition the Chumash Genesis volume I, p53

THE MENORAH  is based on the Jewish Calendar which shows the 7 millenniums

If you look at the calendar, you have the Gregorian calendar: 11 April 2008 and on the other side the Jewish calendar: 11 Nissan 5768.

So we are in the third millennium of the Gregorian calendar and near the end of the 6 millennium in the Jewish calendar.

YESHUA CAME AS A SERVANT IN THE 4TH MILLENNIUM

The name of the lamp in the middle of the Menorah is called the Servant Lamp or Shamash.

Yeshua came as the Suffering Servant as the Son of Joseph, called "Ben Joseph".

If you read the story of Joseph in Genesis, you can see hidden in the story Yeshua and the beautiful passage when he revealed himself to his brothers.

In Matthew 12:8 “The son of man is the Lord of the Shabbat” Yeshua loved to heal on the Shabbat!

We are in the 6th Millennium going into the 7th Millennium… the Shabbat Day, The millennium when Yeshua will be Lord, King of Kings, reigning in Jerusalem.

Our God does not leave us ignorant, everything is in the Word...

7 SPIRITS of the Lord:  Isaiah 11

"And there shall come forth a Shoot out of the stock of Jesse (David's father), and a Branch out of his roots shall grow and bear fruit.  And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him--the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the reverential and obedient fear of the Lord--"

1.  Spirit of wisdom (Chochma)

7. Spirit of understanding (Binah)

2. Spirit of counsel (Etza)

6. Spirit of power (Gabora)

3. Spirit of knowledge (Daat)

5. Fear of the Lord (Yirah)

4. Spirit of the Lord rests on him as in Isaiah 61

We find again in Revelation 1 : "John to the seven assemblies that are in Asia: May grace (God's unmerited favour) be granted to you and spiritual peace (the peace of Christ's kingdom) from Him Who is and Who was and Who is to come, and from the seven Spirits (the sevenfold Holy Spirit) before His throne."

7 CONGREGATIONS * in Revelation

6th Congregation is Philadelphia, which loves Jesus and has the Key of David, the WORD, Revelation 3:10.

It is the time when the congregation is RAPTURED...  before the 7th Millennium.

7th Congregation of Laodicea, neither hot not cold… The congregation who will go through the troubles and the wrath of the Lord but the Lord has still some promises for them and tenderly calls them to repentance.

Revelation 3:14-22

The Menorah is made of cups in the shape of almond blossom: Stay alert.

Almond blossom = almond tree is the first tree with flowers in Israel.  In Hebrew the name means  almond and also to be awake, alert.  Shokad (singular) Shekedim (plural).

See  Jeremiah 1:11.

We don’t know the hour, but we do know the season

Matthew 24: 42-44, in Hebrew is: So stay alert, because you don't know what hour your Lord will come.

The Jewish Feasts of autumn are a prophetic picture of the time of the Lord's coming. (more info later).

Yom Teruah (Day of Messiah) 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18, Matthew 24:31….10 days of Awe….Yom Kippur (Judgment Day) Hebrews 9:11-14, 22-24,10: 1-25… Feast of Tabernacles God Dwells with us Revelation 21:22, water everlasting, Isaiah 12, living waters…John 7:2-52, Zechariah 14:16-19.

Our God has left us a pattern in the Menorah to know His divine plan for us and humanity.

We know His plan, we know that the future is bright, we might have some ups and downs but we are going up!

The pattern is in the Word and we need to dig with a Jewish mind, the Word is a Jewish book.

The two words right in the middle of the first five books written by Moses are: darosh- darash which literally means inquire, he inquired.  Our life's purpose is to dig in the Word and find the treasures that our Lord put there for us to find.

Do you remember playing hide and seek when you were younger and the delight and the squeals when you were found?...

Let us play hide and seek with our God and he will let Himself be found and the delight will be great for us and Him.

Congregation*: there is only one Church, the body of Messiah.  The congregations are the assembly of people in one location.

Isaiah 26:20 "Come, my people, enter your chambers and shut your doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until the [Lord's] wrath is past."  This is the Jewish way to describe the parting away for the Bride and the Groom.

The Open Door into the Next Millenium

We live in an unprecedented time, a door has been opened. You can see the world where you are used to live, and through that door you can see the world to come!!!

We are at a very critical time in history; the end of the 6000 years since Creation and at the door of the 7000 years.

The Millennium is at the door!!!  The Bride of the Lamb is getting ready, Jesus, our Yeshua, our salvation, is washing us by His word and He is calling us to Him. He is transforming us into His image.

Mysteries from the Creation of the World are been revealed to us. The Righteous Ones and prophets were eager to see these days; they have seen them only from afar.  We have the privilege to see live in them.

We are living amazing days.

The BIRTH CHANNEL is necessary!

The term “Transforming” means going from one form to another form. It is not a time of comfort, but it is a necessary time of transition.

This is the process where we are at; we are going from one world which is called ‘this age’ ("olam hazeh" in Hebrew), to the other world, with Yeshua, our Messiah who will reign on earth with His Bride in ‘the age to come’, (called "olam haba" in Hebrew).

The picture of birth has often been used in the Word of God to explain this crucial time.

When the pregnancy arrives to term, a great work occurs. All the body gets ready to push the baby into the world!  The uterus muscle has been transformed during the 40 weeks of gestation, and it is the biggest muscle in the woman's body. Then at the end of the pregnancy, everything is ready to do its job to deliver a healthy baby.

Ask any mum, they will tell you it is hard work, and they will forget about every other thing. Their focus is that the baby is coming!!!

I am smiling now because I remember when our second child, Thomas was about to arrive, Martin was with me and after a while, he started reading the newspaper. By this time, just the noise of this newspaper annoyed me so much and I exclaimed," Can you put that newspaper away, if you haven’t noticed I’m having a baby here!!!"  There was no time for external news at that point because there was a great event happening right there in front of his eyes!!!

The very first breath of a newborn is vital. Many mechanisms are put in place, and it will be the first time that the baby’s lungs will unfold, filled with air. The baby’s skin will change   from a greyish colour to pink.  This is a very crucial time for the baby.

Another important thing that happens is that the man and the woman will change status. They will become Mum and Dad! Parents for the first time! Even if it is not the first child, every time that a baby is born it is a great privilege with responsibilities…Training for life.

In the mother’s womb, the foetus is surrounded by water. The water will gush forth then the baby will arrive.

"That he might sanctify and cleanse her by the washing of water by the word,

that he might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle... "

Ephesians 5 v26-27

You see again through the Scriptures that Jesus is cleaning us through the Word by the washing of water. The word for this in Hebrew is "mikveh" which means immersion.  This brings a change of status.

We are in the last days, the “olam hazeh”, and the world as we know it. We are going through a door of great change.  All of creation is going through a change.

In our personal life, Yeshua said that he was standing at the Door, and when we pass by that Door of Salvation we step from the time of this world to the time of eternity.  As soon as we pass by the Door, we start our eternal life!  Eternal life is to know the Father and the Son, Rev 3 v 8 - John 17 v3. We have already stepped in the “olam haba” when we are born again. We are born from above; we become a new creation with a new status.

The Birth Channel is the narrow door for the newborn baby to come out in the world.  It is not comfortable for him, but it is necessary.

Some research has been done and they have discovered that babies born naturally develop differently to babies who were brought into the world by C-section. The Birth channel is profitable and beneficial physiologically for the new born child, and for all the mechanisms of life to be in place like God intended.

Time is running out! Yeshua is coming back and we will step from this time into the millennium. One in Christ, and one in the Messiah. The Bride is getting ready to be with her Bridegroom!

PRAYING MAKES IT EASIER: FOCUS, FOCUS, AND FOCUS!!!

During the refreshing time in the 90s, the Spirit of the Lord came with laughter, and brought more freedom in the Spirit. God told me “don’t waste time.”  So I prioritized everything in my life, cutting down on non-essential stuff, and focusing on the things that were important in God’s eyes.

When 9/11 happened and I saw the pictures of the twin towers collapsing on the TV screen, God spoke again to me and said “Don’t waste the time of the time.”  I knew that time as we knew it, was flying by, right out of our hands.

We are having visitations of our mighty and wonderful GOD, and you know what? He is not just visiting us,  HE IS COMING TO STAY WITH US!

God's Promises will all be fulfilled!!! Every prayer will be answered!!! Every prophecy will be fulfilled!!!

After the tough labour, the newborn baby is welcome to the world. Joy is all around and people come and visit from far to gaze upon this "tiny-little-bundle-of-joy" in the arms on his mummy!!!

 "Open the gates of righteousness for me;

I will go through them and I will praise the Lord"

Psalm 118 v19.

"The Lord" in Hebrew is Yah, short for Yahweh. The God who shows mercy to us.

So be encouraged my friend, we are stretched, transformed, and we are going through a change of status to become prepared for His coming!!!

Revelations are flowing, healing is happening like never before! Look at the horizon, He is coming in Glory with the Holy Ones!
